we were there 11/2001. it is far away from any commercial airports, but there is a private airstrip on the property. we don't have that kind of cash, so we drove! very long, but interesting none the less.
the place is beautiful, no doubt. the owner has really taken his time and much effort to restore the existing buildings to their original splendor.
i was expecting more with the meals, though. the owner comes up most weekends and the other guests said that the food improves when he is around. the cook told us that supplies get low towards the end of the week, so you may get repeats at lunch or dinner, we did. wine was low as well, tough for us drinkers!
we went horseback riding and took a war wagon out one day; that was great & quite memorable. we had wanted to indulge in some of the spa treatments they advertise, but they said no one was around for manicures or massages, a bit dissappointing.
overall, very beautiful, unspoiled country. would not pay that amount of money again.
**west texas alternative: loved the gage hotel in marathon, tx. very close to big bend & reliable service, food, history, etc.

We just took a trip down through the Big Bend and stayed at the wonderful resort at Lajitas. We drove back through Presidio to visit Cibolo Creek Ranch and maybe stay a night but never could find it. I would highly recommend Lajitas (Lajitas.com) for a luxury spa/golf and dining. The loop through Ft.Davis, Alpine, Terlingua, Presidio is awesome. Happy Travels Texas!

I went to a wedding there and it is nice. Food was decent, not sure what you are looking for. It is definitely in the middle of no where. Overall I would say it is nice but you might be able to find something else you would enjoy more??? Hope that helps.
