CIA Greystone & Copia
California;
Sebastopol - St Helena - Sonoma - Napa
I will be visiting the Greystone CIA for a luncheon and while in the area, I'm thinking about visiting Copia, Vintage Gardens to see roses, the carniverorous plant nursery near Vintage and a horse farm in Sonoma. I was going to stay at the Santa Rosa Hilton, but looking at the map, I fear I'd waste too much time driving. Would you stay between Greystone and Copia to explore that area and then move to Santa Rosa? I can plan around four days. Any suggestions would be great. I don't need to visit winerys.
Will you brainstorm with me to plan a fun trip?

Everything you've mentioned except the horse farm is in the Napa Valley, so why not stay there while you do the local activities? Sonoma is a fairly short drive as well, depending on where the farm is. But it seems quite out of the way to me to stay in Santa Rosa.

Oops, sorry, I didn't read carefully enough. I saw "Vintage" and thought "Vintage 1870" in Yountville.
Personally, I'd still rather stay in the Napa Valley or Sonoma. Maybe another fodorite will have a bright idea.

if your tastes run to greystone and copia (where they charge too much), then you will be grossed out by the hilton's rooms. the pool is nice, the hotel is not.
also vintage 1870 is a tourist trap souvenir mall-ette, so don't get too terribly excited.
better hotel choices: anything in napa. second choice: anything in sonoma. hard to recommend. try to get your hands on access wine country in the library for a lay of the land...
