Churrascaria Platforma
Has anyone been to this restaurant? Is it really authentic? Is it worth it? My boyfriend lived in Brazil for awhile and loved the food. I'd like to surprise him by finding an authentic Brazilian restaurant.

It's very good and usually crowded. The meats are usually excellent quality and the salad bar can occassionally feature lobster tails.
One note, because it is essentially an all-you-can-eat, it isn't cheap.

I went once with a large group and it was great. The food was very good, the salad bar was very good and huge. I'm not Brazilian but have a good friend that is and he liked it. I have another friend who once drove from Boston to DC and had to stop in NY just to eat there.

I can't report on authenticity, but if you're looking for a romantic evening, this ain't it. Go with a big group, yes. There are a few other places listed in the Zagat guide that sound better to me. Casa aat 72 Bedford St. and Commerce st. in the village. Zagat says: "Authentic Brazilian delicacies draw a Portuguese speaking young crowd to this tiny West Villager where killer caipirinhas go down easy with the fresh regional dishes, enthusiastic service and modest prices complete the enjoyable experience." It has the same food rating (22) as Churrascaria with slightly better ratings for decor and service and much less $$$. Via Brasil on west 46th is another place that gets a good review and has live music Wed-Sat.

What city are you talking about?
There's a small but very good Brazilian restaurant in New York on the corner of 8th Avenue and ?? (maybe 48 or 49)? Bugswife where are you?
Every time I've been there I seemed to be the only one not speaking Portugese -- filled with Brazilians.
