Bachelorette party in New York

Hi there,
my girlfriends and I are throwing a bachelorette party in NYC on March 26-29. I would be very grateful for any suggestion as concerns fancy bars/drag queen clubs or any other interesting place not to be missed.

Thank you very much in advance.

Lucky Chengs is a restuarant where your waiters / waitresses are drag queens.

As for fancy bars, I'm sure others can help, as I'm more a dive bar aficionado, ie Coyote Ugly, Hogs n Heifers, etc.

Lips is a cabaret drag queen type place.

I kinda like the divey places too but as for bars on the fancier side, I like Pravda, an underground Russian vodka/martini place, I think it's on Lafayette. Also on Lafayette, Temple Bar, a little quieter but really good drinks. If you're into cocktails, the bar at Gramercy Tavern is very good. None of these places are the type where you're going to get away with the "suck for a buck" type of shenanigans, I'm assuming you're planning something a bit more sophisticated. Have fun!

A good place for Diner with drag show an inexpensive and good food Is Stingy Lulu's On st marks strret near the end by avenue A The edgy, young crowd, cross-dressing waiters and rave beats that St. Marks is known for are all housed in this classic diner filled with vintage memorabilia. The restaurant features a bar-counter eating area and numerous booths, and wraps around the back into the funky neighboring club of the same name. Service is good when it's not too crowded and the waiters aren't doubling as drag-queen divas (they perform only on Friday and Saturday nights around 10pm).

Hi there,
Thank you so much for your help. Has anybody of you heard of a bar/restaurant called "La nouvelle Justine"? It was mentioned in a reply in 2002 on the same topic and sounds quite interesting.
Cheers

La Nouvelle Justine, if I remember correctly is a restuarant with a submission / domination, S&M theme to it. Think customers drinking out of stilettos and eating off a plate on the floor, and you get the idea. Of course, I think it's done more to the men than women!

Anyway, here's a link with more info:

How about Bungalow 8 or drinks at Spice Market (Jean-Georges' new place which is fantastic).

And for a really fun evening get tickets to Forbidden Broadway. It is one the absolutely funniest things we have EVER seen. It is a bit of an irreverant look at Broadway Shows, past and present.

You also might try dinner at America, on 18th St between 5th and Broadway, fun, huge menu and a great bar.

Have a great time.

You might want to try a funny show like Naked Boys singing - Culture Club is a fun "cheesy" bachelorette type 80's dance club - they have a show upstairs first Birdys Bachelorette Party - it is a funny interactive bachelortte party - look it up on the internet - then you can go downstairs and dance (the club admission is complementary with the show) -

why would you girls get a kick out of boys dressed as girls? Naked Boys singing sounds more like it. I was the only one there who wasn't either gay or part of a group of bachelorette party goers.

Dear all,

thanks a lot for your very helpful comments. The last thing I wanted to ask is whether you can recommend a nice Spa in NYC?

Thanks again

Aveda Spa comes highly recommended. There are a few around my job here in the Union Square / Chelsea area, just can't remember any names offhand.

This subject has been discussed on tis board a few times before, so if you type in "NYC Spa" on the search feature, it should pull up some other threads with more suggestions.

I might have meant Bliss Spa, not Aveda! Sorry, it's Friday and I'm not thinking yet!
