Christmas or not Christmas at Disney, Orlando
Hi,
I'm planning a trip to Orlando (from UK) sometime during this year. I like the idea of going during the X-mas holidays. Is this a good idea or not. Can someone give me some advice if they have ever been during this month. many thanks

You will find Disney World to be very crowded around the holidays. I've been there a couple of times between Christmas and New Year's and found the lines for the most popular rides to be 1-2 hours. Of course, it is busy in the summer time too and the weather is better in December (not as hot). If you go during the holidays the place will be festively decorated. If you go after New Year's, there probably will be fewer people but the decorations will remain. Every night there are fireworks when the park is closing. On New Year's Eve, the crowds are a little more excited about it because after all , it is a big party. You can also go to Paradise Island (I think that's what it's called), which is just for adults, and they probably have some New Year's special. I guess it depends on how patient you are and how willing you are to put up with crowds. If you think this will be the only chance you get to go, then go for it! Better to see it with a lot of people than not see it at all.

As already stated, WDW is very crowded between Christmas and New Years (and Thanksgiving week). However, I was there mid-January this year and it was the best trip we have ever taken down there. The crowds were small, the lines were short and the weather was very nice. We have been to WDW several times and good times to go are late October, April (not around Easter)and the second and third weeks of December (you get the Christmas decorations without the crowds).

Similarly, we were there over the holidays this year. Flew down on New Year's Day and had heard that due to the crowds, the park actually shut down early (like 10:30 a.m.). Actually, this past year was the 25th anniversary, so maybe it's not a good indicator, but even the week of New Year's was very crowded and we endured long lines nearly everywhere; however, the locals say that usually after New Year's day the crowds thin out.
