Christmas 2005 at a nice resort - where would you recommend?
We are intending to spend Christmas at a resort this year. We are near the Pittsburgh area. Our plan is to drive Christmas Eve night to something within a couple hours or fly out of Pittsburgh Christmas morning to someplace warm or interesting.
We've considered Greenbrier in WV = too pricy/stuffy, Nemacolin = which is our top choice, or perhaps fly to Nashville and stay at the Gaylord Grand Ol Opry. This would be a get-away not a "vacation". Florida/Miami area would be nice too but the air prices seem a bit high right now.
Any recommendations?
We want something clean, upscale, but not stuffy. Also want activites and a nice Christmas dinner offering. We are traveling with a 3yr old. Because it will be Christmas we don't want to accidently land in a dump. Have considered a ski type place but don't have any experience in that type of accomodation. I do not care for the rustic look.
Your help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I am sorry I can't be of much help in this area, but I do know that you won't find very many resorts in Ohio. Therefore, I suggest that you post this message in a different area, such as general intrest, or if you know a state that has alot of resorts, you could post this message in that state's forum.I hope this can help you get some more responses and I am sorry that this is all I can suggest.

Try the Glendorn. It is a pit pricey, but it is not stuffy.

If you don't mind a bit of a flight, here are a few stunners on the left coast:
Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, CA.
Montage Resort and Spa, Laguna Beach, CA.
Hotel Parisi, San Diego (La Jolla), CA.

This is me again. I am sorry that my message that I posted a few days ago was inaccurate. I did not realize that it was in the general united states area, because somehow I accessed it by clicking on Ohio's area. I am sorry for the confusion.
Good luck.
