Children on Bourbon St.
I recently visited New Orleans and was on Bourbon St. late on a Saturday night. I noticed that there were several parents who had their children with them. They were not in the bars, but as you know things are just as crazy on the street. I was wondering what your thoughts are on this.

My one visit to Bourbon Street was enough....perverts, prostitutes, and transvestites everywhere. The strip bars keep their doors open so anyone walking by can see what's going on. Agree that it's no place for kids or anyone with any self pride or morals. It makes Vegas look almost respectable.

I live on Bourbon Street, several blocks down from all of the clubs and bars. It's no place for children at night and some adults may not even like it. However, thousands of people enjoy the street and its attractions (music, restaurants and yes, adult clubs) each and every day. Personally, I prefer the clubs elsewhere in the Quarter but that's a personal thing.

Hank,
IMHO transvestites are not in the same league as perverts (or prostitutes). And in New Orleans they are considered a part of the fun. My 12 year old daughter really enjoyed the "drag races" they had outside one of the bars -- and I don't believe it was on Bourbon St. Bourbon St. is more for heterosexuals.
