chicago trip report

just back from a few days in chicago. Spent a few days in the city, before attending business meeting.

arrived sat early afternoon. stayed at hotel burnham - very nice hotel. turns out it is 2 blocks from the new Millenium park. went over after check in and walked around. Great site= a must see! went back in the evening for free concert.

took free trolley tour to planatarium area and walked around outside and then back to hotel for dinner at their restaurant. very good food, not cheap. Concert at park in the evening.

sunday went to Art Institute. Seurat exhibit was great. had lunch there and checked out a few other exhibits as well. then took architectural tour. good but not exactly what we expected. then off to navy pier briefly - not our thing.

next day rented car and went to chicago botanical garden in Glencoe, IL. loved it.

then off the meeting we had.

Hi Joanel--
I'm thinking of doing the architectural tour when I'm in Chicago next month. Could you expand on why it was not what you expected? I'm assuming you did the river tour. Thanks.

it is a very popular tour and well done. I think we expected them to go out into the lake as well. so we could view some of those buildings, also

Joanel, there is a longer one that does both the river and the lake, but obviously you got the river only one. You probably have to specify which one you want when you book. We thoroughly enjoyed the river only one, but then we had just been to Navy Pier and got quite a good view of downtown from there.
