Chicago Sunset Cruise

My daughter and I will be in Chicago the end of July. Have read about the Wendella Sunset Cruise. Has anyone taken this and were you pleased?. It was the only sunset crusie that I could find that did not include dinner. It seems that someone said that this cruise spends a long time waiting to get from river to lake. We are not interested in a dinner cruise. We are taking the CAF river cruise one afternoon. Thought it would be nice to see the Chicago at night from the water. Have printed all the information on Chicago from this site. Thank you for your help.

I haven't done it, but we took a sunset cruise in New York City and it was one of the very best parts of the trip. I vote YES! on sunset cruises in big cities

Sabrina - If you are taking the CAF tour, the wendella tour could be very repetitive since they both start on the river. You might want to check and compare the routes before you decide.

To me, Wendella is mostly a water taxi more than a tour thingy. The CAF tour is superior.

Sabrina - see this post as well and read the notes from Patten. See the suggestion for the best of the architectural tours. Chicagoline.com

I feel that any cruise that takes you out beyond the locks and into Lake Michigan proper is not repetitive. The Chicago River Arch. tours (both) that I know about do NOT got through the locks.

I think going through the locks and taking time to go out onto the LAKE are not wasted hours. If you've never been through the locks- that part will be interesting as well. Go for it.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions. I was glad to know about the chicagoline tours. I had only read about the CAF tours. We are so excited about our upcoming trip to Chicago
