We cannot get a priceline hotel at all. Need something May 7-9.... anyone know why we are getting ridiculous rates?

Fancy Food Show is in town that weekend. It usually draws about 30,000. Hotels are going to be tough. Also, make restaurant reservations now, as well, as they book up fast during this one.

No vacancy anywhere in June either. I guess we won't ever bother trying to visit Chicago. Never before had such hotel problems anywhere else in the Western World.

Have you tried Quikbook? Kayak?

Chances of a Priceline room are slim when most hotels anticipate being fully booked.

hotrooms.com is another website to check for hotels and it usually shows you the reason why the hotels are so high priced.

Really, hop along, no vacancy the entire month of June? That seems quite odd. Certainly, if you are going to a popular destination at a popular time, it pays to plan ahead. However, I find it hard to believe that every hotel in Chicago is booked the entire month of June. Perhaps you are just looking at a very popular weekend? Blues Fest or Taste of Chicago or a big convention.

Good luck.

Thank you for the hotrooms suggestion. You are right, it's the foodie thing. We are going for the Wine Spectator Grand Tour and booked our dinner res the first night at Aria over 4 weeks ago! Good thing! Anyway, I managed to get decent prices at the Club Quarters at the Loop. That puts us close to the event and to Aria...I don't mind being on that side of the river.
