I have to go into the Loop for one day, then drive back north the next morning. Due to the challenge of parking downtown, I am thinking of staying near OHare & taking the blue line in for the day, then returning to the hotel at night. I don't know how to search for a hotel that offers both free parking & easy access to the EL. Any ideas?

Just about all of the hotels near O'Hare have parking. I'm not sure if all of them offer free parking. That you'll have to research, but what I can tell you is that all of the airport hotels offer free shuttle service to/from the airport and that's where the blue line starts. So as long as you find a hotel with free parking it won't matter if it will be close to the blue line. Just take the free hotel shuttle to the airport, hop on a train and you'll be downtown in ~1 hour.

Hint: most of the mid-level hotels within a mile or 2 of the airport usually have free parking. Places such as Hampton Inns, Embassy Suites, etc....

The Holiday Inn on W Higgins Road and on Cumberland both have free parking. The Higgins location has a free shuttle. The one on Cumberland is across the street from the L station.

The Residence Inn Rosemont, Courtyard on S River Road and SpringHill Suites on W Higgins also have free parking, but I don't have shuttles. If you drove to the Blue Line, parking at the Cumberland Station garage would be $4.00 for 12-hours or $5.00 at Rosemont.

Citylgths,

The Courtyard and Residence Inn do have a free airport shuttle and I'm just taking a wild guess but Springhill may have one as well.

Like I said, 95% of the airport hotels have a free shuttle service otherwise they would be shooting themselves in the foot.

Free parking is a different story but AFAIK, most mid level airport hotels do offer free parking, and in all probability most economy and high end do as well but the OP should confirm that before booking.

Thank you so much! I checked out the Holiday Inn on Cumberland since I know how to get there. Got a great price, blue line access, free parking and life is good.
Gratefully,Eileen

Thanks, AA, I misread. I looked again and the hotel sites say they don't provide transportation to MDW. Eileen, glad you were able to find something even though I can't read. :-\
