we are going to chicago for 1st time--looking for nice hotel on or near "the magnificent mile" michigan ave. would appreciate help.

I've stayed at the Fitzpatrick and found it very nice, good pub/bar in the basement and an easy walk to the "mile."

Hotel Burnham is beautiful-love the history and the location.

Allerton,Lenox Suites,Marriott,Hyatt and Sheraton are some that you can get a decent price if its ahead of time and possibly on someone like Orbitz.

There are dozens of hotels within a couple blocks of the Mag Mile that range from the Red Roof and HoJo's to the Ritz and Peninsula.

Who is "we", what's your budget and what amenities are important to you? Do you want a pool or activities for children? An in-room refrigerator? Room service and on-site restaurant?

Would you prefer a large hotel or a smaller boutique place? A modern building or something with vintage character? Upscale elegance or just a basic room with a bed and bath?

Also keep in mind that hotel rooms are very sensitive to supply and demand. Prices are much higher during conventions and events. When in June are you planning and are your dates flexible?
