check in times for Orlando airport

I just read some info that stated we should plan 90 minutes to get through the security line at Orlando. Our party is leaving at two different times the week after Thanksgiving. One departure is 8 pm Wednesday and the other is noon on Saturday. This seems like a lengthy time just for security and to then add in car rental return plus check-in and advance boarding time! Haven't flown in and out of Orlando for awhile. Anyone that can give updated necessary arrival times prior to departure for these planned departures would be much appreciated-thanks

Are you sure that 90 minutes isn't the total check-in, security, walk to the gate time? I've never had to wait for more than 10 minutes in line in Orlando, it seems to move right along.

I flew out of Orlando on November 1st. My flight was 730PM. I waited almost 45 minutes on the security line alone.

Laura, Wow, that's really unlucky. I fly out of Orlando fairly often and security is usually much faster than that. 15 minutes in line is the longest I've waited. Perhaps there were a large number of flights leaving around the same time?

katk: Always check both security lines - there are two lines for each of the A and B sides of the terminal (4 total). Sometimes people get in the first line they see without realizing there is a shorter line available.

Thanks for the input because my son is travelling by himself at the 8pm time and I would hate to see him miss his flight so late at night! The 90 minutes noted was for security line only!! Thanks again-everyones real life scenarios are always helpful!!

I flew out of Orlando last year, early December, mid day and waited over 40 minutes to get through the security line. I was amazed... so the last time I flew out of there this past October, I gave myself extra time, thinking it would be the same, and I was through in under 10 minutes. So I think its just the luck of the draw. But I would think around 8pm on a weeknight would be slower perhaps, so that hopefully will be quicker. The noon on a Saturday departure though has me thinking a longer line is quite possible. Best of luck. Hope they both are speedy!

I too have been in Orlando when the security lines have been slow. Other times, they have moved more quickly. I would play it safe and be there 1-1/2 to 2 hours prior.

Thanks -we usually arrive 1 1/2 to 2 hours and a little extra depending on where we need to return a car rental but was a little concerned about the 90 min. for the security line only comment, since of course we want to utilize every last minute of vacation on vacation and the least amount of time in an airport-thanks again
