cheap trip on the road
a lot of time ago I've seen on an italian tv program a cheap way to travel without renting a car..people in a country is selling a car to another person in another country and they need someone who drive and bring the car to the new owner..does anybody can suggest me some website where I can find this service?or as well online hitchiking..I use it a lot in europe but I can't find anything like that online here in US.. (if you have other suggestions about cheap airlines or tips I'd be glad). Elly

I believe times have changed as far a hitching a ride is concerned. Maybe too many bad experiences.
Depending upon where you happen to be, not getting a ride, or getting a partial ride could leave you in some uncomfortable locations.
There might be a difference between cheap and inexpensive.

In much of the US hitchhiking is illegal. It is also extremely dangerous - and really not something anyone should do.
I can't imagine someone would entrust their car to a complete stranger to drive somewhere for them. Moving companies will do this for people. However, feel free to google to see if any companies offer this option. If they do expect to be able to show references and perhaps make a security deposit.

I used to know people who would fly courier - does that still exist? You sign up with a courier service, and in exchange for transporting what they need transported (and usually having to accommodate their things by giving up your own luggage allotment), you'd get a free or very inexpensive airline ticket...

There are commercial agencies that link cars and drivers but you would have to be over 25 and have a US drivers license.
Most universities have rideshare boards, paper/and or online. It is customary to offer to pay for the fuel or at least half of it, particularly if you do not drive.
