Cheap Las Vegas Dining
A few friends and I are going to Vegas in early March. I am looking for inexpensive (but edible) places for us to eat. At least one member of our group is a pretty picky eater. We are all in our mid 20s and there are 9 of us going. If you can think of any restaurants that would be easy for a group of 9 to eat at, I would love some help as we are all first time visitors!

i'm not sure what your definition of "inexpensive" is - but if you want to keep it under $20, you should probably try the buffets - these range from around $10-$25 per person for dinner. Bellagio's buffet is at the high end but it is good. Other worthwhile buffets can be found at Paris, Rio, Bally's, and Mandalay Bay.

Lotus of Siam - named by Gourmet Magazine as the best Thai restaurant in the US. 953 E. Sahara
This place is incredible, and very reasonably priced. If its good enough for x-presidents and Billy Joel, its good enough for me.
And the chef even sat down with us for dessert (and gave us some free wine).
Amazing for the price.

Dee, at the website below, there are various categories, several for eating....best burger, best buffet, and best eats.
Naturally, as with all things, these are subjective opinions by 'someone.'

P.S. Having trouble with this website today...don't know whether it's Fodors or my computer.

Get an entertainment book for Vegas. (entertainment.com) There are tons of EXCELLENT 2-for-1 coupons in there for all kinds of restaurants...Indian, Thai, CHinese, Steakhouses, breakfast places, etc. I definitely think you will get your money's worth. To see the kind of offers in the book, go to the afformentioned website and browse the Vegas coupons.

Gotta second the rec on Lotus of Siam. You can only have too many buffets before you want something else. LOS is off the strip (you'll need to drive, too far to walk) but the food is sublime--I'm still dreaming about it, three months later. There is nothing like it on the Strip.
If you get a chance to go to LOS, try the crispy rice and sour sausage appetizer: DIVINE! Each rice is perfectly fried, very crunchy, with a taste of lime. I also very much enjoyed the whole catfish dish--grilled, with a tom yum flavor and topped with scallions. I went with some non-adventurous folks who were extremely happy with the beef jerky app and chicken with almonds(?) dish. For dessert, people wax poetic about the sticky rice with coconut or mango ice cream, but I was too stuffed to try it...

Plus, they are good at accomodating large parties.

The best part of all is it's CHEAP! You can use the money you saved for drinks later.

My wife and I just got back from LasVegas, and we like to save our cash for more important things than $30 steaks. The buffets out here are numerous, and many are in the $10-$15 range for dinner. This was our third trip to Vegas, and the two we seemed to like at this price range were the Riviera and the Excaliber. The Rio was excellent 5 years ago,but 2 years ago it was not so good.Downtown we liked the Golden Nugget.
Our plan was always have a nice big breakfast(these are also buffets, and usually are pretty good)maybe a little snack in the afternoon, and then hit one of the buffets for supper. This way your not tieing up your time in the afternoon looking for a place for lunch.
