Priceline has great deals if you don't mind not knowing which hotel you will be staying at. Also I once booked a good deal on lodging.com for South Beach Miami.

I had good experience with www.hotelkingdom.com on our last trip. Be careful, they have some exceedingly cheap rates but they are at timeshares and you have to attend a presentation to get the dirt-cheap rate. My husband and I were fine with that, but be sure to read the details.

Download travelaxe.com
It checks all of the discounters, as well as the hotel website...
It is a very good program

After reviewing strategy and winning bids on biddingfortravel.com-I went to Priceline-defined my area in Miami-choose 4 stars and got the Wyndam Grand Bay in Coconut Grove for $60/nt. Rooms there go for $300+,-. I simply decided I couldn't go too wrong with 4 stars and entered my bid-check it out.

If you are traveling in the off season, you might want to wait until you get there and then pick up a hotel coupon book (we found them at IHOP and other tourist information places). The coupons offer great discounts - cheaper than what we could find on Orbitz or Travelocity. And it included everything from Comfort Inn's to Hiltons.

I've seen Bidding For Travel recommended here several times, but I can't seem to figure out how to use it! Also recommended here is luxurylink.com. There seem to be a few good last minute deals there for high end places. Can anyone vouch from personal experience?
