Cheap/Clean Accomidations in Williamsburg, VA
I am going to Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg in a few weeks for a mini-vacation. Since I do not spend a lot of time in the hotel/motel, I am looking for cheap accomodations, but clean. Any suggestions helpful. Thank you.

Hi Dottie,
Just returned from Williamsburg yesterday. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Patriot, on Richmond Road (Hwy 60). It was clean, but I think they were having a property-wide problem with the air conditioning. If you do a search on lodging, you'll find tons of chain and local hotels, just try to be located on Richmond Road, it's easy access to Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. Have fun!

Many chains on Bypass Road (Rt60) but HoJo looks a bit beat. I like Best Inn (indoor pool, breakfast buffet) and Travelodge.
I LOVE old motor courts, so my alltime favorite lodging in Williamsburg is the Gov. Spottswood Motel on Richmond Rd. Old, but clean, friendly, and locally owned/operated.

I stayed in a very basic motel that was very clean and up to date. The name was the Quarterpath Inn and they have a web site of www.quarterpathinn.com. It is similar to a basic Days Inn if I had to compare it to a chain. I'd definitely stay there again as it was a clean and basic place to sleep. It was called the It was about 5 minutes by car from Colonial Willaimsburg.

I have to second the vote for Travelodge. We stayed there during our visit to Williamsburg a few years ago (simply because it was the cheapest place close to Colonial Williamsburg, I admit) and were pleasantly surprised. Nothing fancy, but very clean, well-staffed, safe, and with an outdoor pool and whirlpool (which felt great after a full day of walking).
Enjoy your time in Colonial Williamsburg -- it is a fantastic and fascinating place to visit (especially for history buffs!) Definitely one of my best vacations ever.
