Chateau Dupre Hotel/Deal

Found a great package deal for 199 pp.
3 days, 2 nights
Chilled champagne upon arrival
2 dinner @ Olivier's or Cajun Cabin
Riverwalk Mall discount coupon book
Harrah's Casino Instant Cash & Beads Coupon
Beignets and cafe au lait at Cafe Du Monde
Romantic horse-drawn carriage ride
French Quarter Walking Tour
Brunch at The Court of Two Sisters
Steamboat Natchez River Cruise

I've read several not so good threads regarding this hotel. Has anyone stayed there lately and taken advantage of this package?

I confess that I don't know a thing about this hotel, but the rest of the package doesn't look too thrilling. Cajun Cabin is very touristy, has some ok food, but more of a bar. I'm not much of a shopper, but would much rather shop in the shops in the Quarter than at the Mall. I also wasn't impressed with Harrah's. Beignets and cafe au lait don't cost very much. The carriage ride would be fun, but I don't think it's much more than $25.00. There are free walking tours of the Quarter. Court of Two Sisters is very touristy, doesn't have very good food. The river cruise would be fun, but I sure wouldn't go on one that serves a meal.

Unless you're going at the height of tourist season, I'd look further.

Thanks so much Jean. I'm going August 8-12;celebrating my 50th. Based on your comments, I think we could swing the package offers on our own. Do you have any hotel recommendations? We are open to b&b's also.

TIA.

I have stayed at this hotel and it was fine. Very convenient location and walkable everywhere without mobility limitations. Again the above poster is correct on the value of this package- Consider looking at the Good times guide for coupons too. http://www.neworleansonline.com/spec...ons/index.html
There are 2 for one on the boat tours, and the Riverwalk coupon booklet- which is essentially worthless compared to several years ago. Free walking tours via the park service http://www.nps.gov/jela/pphtml/activities.html Also superb cemetery tours with http://www.nps.gov/jela/pphtml/activities.html
