Charlotte Shopping Trip
I would like to spend a day in Charlotte shopping. I want to see strictly non chain stores, clothing/accessories/shoes for adult women, and gift stores. I am familiar with Phillips Place and South Park. Any other suggestions?
Thanks and happy new year.

I think GoTravel might have it about right. Go to Phillips Place and South Park (which, if you haven't been in a few years, is completely NEW)for clothes and shoes.
On Providence road there used to be Suite 106--not sure if it is still there.
The shoe shop on Selwyn is not there any more--Ellison's. It may be at PP or SP.
There is a DARLING gift shop called Details on Selwyn. Other gift store that is excellent is the Buttercup, also on Providence. And John Dabbs on Providence.
A very funky and fun gift shop is the Paper Skyscraper on East Blvd.
I'll give it some more thought.

Thanks, Gretchen. In Winston Salem and Mt. Airy you really have to know where the shops are because so many of them are hidden. I just assumed the same was true of Charlotte. I make the pilgrimmage to Phillips Place and South Park about twice a year. With Dean and Delucca and Nordstroms it really is the Holy Grail of NC shopping.

Check out the strip of Providence Rd between Queens Rd and Laurel Ave in Myers Park. There are a few boutique shops along there. One that comes to mind is Cinch - a place my wife loves and I prefer she stay out of. There are also antique and furniture shops, decent places for lunch and good places for dinner on this 1/2 mile strip.

Shopping is well outside my area of expertise unless there is a .com connected to it. We do have the new Mall off of 77 North which apparently has some of the same high end stores as Southpark. There is also a scattering of small boutique-type places in NoDa & on Central Ave.

Also shop in the Shops on the Park in back of South Park. Harold's is a nice woman's store there. And Talbot's and Williams Sonoma. The Carriage has just closed.
Paris? Don't think so, and I live just a couple of blocks away. However, that shopping center has been completely re-done and I'm not even sure what is in there now.
Saks was supposed to be an almost stand alone store in a center out Park Road but that has fallen through. I haven't really heard anything more about it.
Brian's idea is good. That would be where Suite 106 was, so maybe it is now Cinch. And the Butterup is just a bit further IN town from Laurel.
another VERY nice gift shop is in the Shops on the Park--Elizabeth Bruns.
