Well, not if I'm there....(re: Robes). He lives no where near CLT, the comment was pointed at me.

oh sorry SanP.- I just reread the beginning- I'm new to the boards- but have read many threads for travel tips and recognized Robespierre's name from previous threads.
Anyway- i am game for anywhere, anything.

traveltheel, welcome to Fodors! I would love to have you join us for a gtg, if we can ever get one organized! Maybe me, you and SAnParis can just start planning it with the hopes that others will join in?

October is fairly busy for me now as well. How about sometime in November, before the holidays?

There does seem to be a number of us, although I'm not sure exactly how many. I guess this group just isn't one for doing GTG's! I moved here two years ago and would love to meet some new people, especially those as travel-obsessed as I am.

Ditto to travel obsessed! Also seems to be a well rounded group of people - love to read, cook, politically minded or interested...very open-minded- which appeals to me...Hope we can meet.

You may just have to pick a place & time, & see what happens. I'll certainly try to make it.

I agree! I'm very open, as I have no kids (yet) and no family in town. We will be out of town (driving trip to DC) for the Thanksgiving holiday but otherwise I'm available all other weekends in Nov and the last few weekends in Oct. Care to throw out a date and a place?

Choose a time and place, and I'll try hard. Been to others for other boards--AOL and a cookig board, and it's fun.

I'm very open. I like the idea of something outdoors. Gado Gado would work for me, as would Big Ben or anything else. To be honest I haven't even been to any of the suggested locals.

Where is everyone from? Maybe that would help us narrow down a place that's central to everyone.

Okay, I'm going to throw a date and a place out there.

Gado Gado in Matthews (where SAnParis and I reside)
http://www.gadogadousa.com/
Saturday, November 8th
6:00 pm

If the date, or the place, doesn't work for you let me know and we can go from there.

It was featured this week in the paper. Looks nice. I'm not sure Saturday is a good choice but you all suit yourselves.

Saturday isn't a good choice? I assume that most of us work full time. I work in the university area and wouldn't be able to meet anyone before 7:00 pm on a weeknight. I also assume most people are busy on Sundays.

As I said, I am open. I threw that out there as a suggestion because nobody else will give a date or a time. Gretchen, if Saturdays don't work for you then what day would?

As I said, if that is the best day, that is fine. I'll (with DH) will either be there or not. I think that particular Saturday is a beach time with friends. Have everyone say yes or no and choose. You will not get everyone.

Thanks Gretchen! I just threw that date out there. Its so hard to get everyone together on a date that works, but hopefully we can work to that goal! Is there a particular weekend that works best for you?

Fine for me, but that may be a Holiday weekend as well.

Okay, I officially give up!
Somebody else has to give some dates because I'm a homebody and rarely have weekend plans that are set in stone.

Would it be easier if we did this via email? If anyone wants to e-mail me directly, please feel free to do so. My email is [email protected].
