Charleston without tourists???

TC, I was trying to think of an equivalent in my city (Atlanta).
I knew our Dogwood festival was big. Most years it's held in Piedmont Park in Midtown. For a few years it was held in the parking lot of Lenox Square Mall because the city wasn't giving festivals access to the park (they said to let the grass regrow).
Anyway, there are about 250 artists exhibiting and 500 music acts. It's a three day weekend. Here's the website -

It's a pretty big event in Atlanta. It's probably our biggest festival. I can't think of a bigger one. Yet, it really doesn't impact much outside of the park area. I know Atlanta is big, but Midtown has about 30K residents (about 1/4 the size of Charleston).
I couldn't figure out the attendence so I asked a friend who is on the board. Usually attendence for the weekend is 300,000. That's 10X more than live in Midtown. I know that the historic district of Charleston is fairly small but I think it can easily absorb 5000 people attending "the largest wildlife event". Atlanta is impacted during marathons (like last weekend) for a few hours (due to road closures) but after than things get back to normal.
I'm not sure if any of that makes sense, but I really don't think you need to be concerned from festivals on your list. A 100 vendor exhibit area is really not that big.
Enjoy Charleston! It's a fabulous city
