Charleston, South Carolina

I am going to Charleston SC St. Patrick's Day weekend for a wedding and touring. This site has been wonderful for touristy info. I am attending a wedding down there and was wondering what women would be likely to wear for a 4 pm wedding at this time of year. It's cold where I am and we are all wearing winter clothes, but I see Charleston is about 70degrees lately. Would spring clothes be more appropriate? Help!

I live in Charleston and have been wearing either light long sleeves or short sleeves. You may need a light jacket (depending on how warm blooded you are or where you're from)....but it's been really nice!

Jenalr, Have you been wearing darkish colors or spring colors?

A little bit of both, but mostly darker colors.

Where is your wedding located? Downtown?

The wedding isn't in Charlston itself but in Mt. Pleasant in what is described by the bride's mother as a very simple chapel. It is called the Tidewater Chapel and the reception is right there next to it.

Because it is an evening reception, I'd wear black silk pants and a jacket with strappy sandals.

Charleston is very preppy/conservative chic.

Think Prada and Lacoste but not Mui Mui or Ralph Lauren Polo. Lily Pulitzer but not the obvious ones.
