I have just linked a new Charleston travelogue to my Web site (www.oneeyed.homestead.com), complete with new photos. I have also updated and added quite a few photos to the 1999 Charleston travelogue. Because Homestead just upgraded its software today, I am getting a few glitches, only some of which I have repaired already, so be aware when viewing. I am also redoing a few of the photos for quality purposes (contrast and saturation), so they may look a little different in the next few days.

Thanks to your travelogue and info I found on chowhound.com, we had a great week in Charleston and Wild Dunes. While most of our time was spent on the beach, we visited Fort Sumter (hot!) and Charleston. Ate at Long Island Cafe, Boathouse, Water's Edge, Sticky Fingers, Poogan's Porch and Magnolia's.

Magnolia's was a major disappointment, our filets were so overcooked we couldn't believe they had the nerve to put it on our table. They did re-make both of our meals which turned out pretty good but we won't be back...too many other great places to pick from!

Glad to see someone benefit from all the stuff I wrote. Charleston is a great place. I think it is the perfect beach vacation spot for someone interested in history. I have been twice now and still have at least a dozen places in mind for future meals.

Good job (as usual), Dan. I especially like the one at Magnolia Plantation...a definite prizewinner. It goes in my "inspiration file" with other great shots I've compiled!

I'm glad to hear that you loved Jestines! That was definitely on my list of "must try" restaurants, specifically for the reasons you gave: wonderful, southern food. I enjoy eating, and I'm looking forward to trying a different regional cuisine.

I'm especially looking forward to the Charleston museum (I'm crossing my fingers that the Civil War exhibit is open), Fort Sumter, and the plantations, as well as the historic district. In short, I'm excited about Charleston period!
