Just read an interesting article in the NY Times that May Bloomberg is going to crack down on "quality of life" issues.
How he succeeds.

A rat strolling down Broadway? I guess Hillary really is a New Yorker now.

No, Danna - that was most likely Alphonse D'Amato, "Senator Pothole", who did many of the same deeds as HC but was admired, rather than castigated for it.

It always amazes me how people who hate
Hillary Clinton can use any statement to zing her.
Envy is a terrible thing.

I just returned from two weeks in NYC and am pleased to report it was still safe to take the subway at 3 AM - something I was afraid to do when I was growing up in NYC!

I also noticed more trash in the streets. And as far as that rat goes - they were spraying the subway stations for rats (where I usually see them) so no doubt Mr. Times Square was simply temporarily displaced from his usual home!

Just speaking to some friends from NYC.

They are very upset with the way NY is going.

They were telling me that they see no police at the Port Authority. Junkies are hanging out in the streets.
People are begging on the subway.

All of these things had vanished under Gulliani. Now they are back and the quality of life in the city is not the same.

I'm a life long New Yorker and can say that, despite 9/11, the quality of life is probably better now than under Giuliani. Most people are relieved that Rudy is not in control anymore. Bloomberg seems like a much more likable tolerant guy. And I've seen no more beggars or prostitutes here. That is just some right wingers fabrication.

The parking in the city has become horrendous since Bloomberg initiated parking meters in affect even on Sunday.
It cost .25 cents for 15 minutes of parking.
You use to be able to go into the city on a Sunday for brunch or the museums and park on the street all day.
So now a lot of people no longer visit the city on Sunday, therefor depriving the city of some additional income that visitors bring to NY.
What is he thinking!!!!

So Metro, let me get this straight, because you are now having to pay $1 per hour to park on the street in NYC you are boycotting it?
