cell phone lot at SFO - ever used it?

We're picking up family at 10pm Friday night...hope to use the cell phone lot. If you have used it, is it easy to get in there or is it always full? Thanks!

I've never used it but I've driven by numerous times after picking up a rental car. It never seems too crowded, as I'm not sure the idea of cell phone lot has really kicked in for many.

It's easy to get to from 101, and about 10min or less drive to the terminal arrivals.

I've used it once and it seemed to be a long and a bit confusing drive - not something I'd attempt in the dark.

It seemed easier to try and time my arrival at the airport either 20 (without checked luggage)/40 minutes (with checked luggage) after the arrival time. I usually have to circle no more than twice around, timing it this way.

Good luck!

I usually just park in short term paid parking and meet people at baggage claim--doesn't cost more than a few bucks if I time it right.

Create your own cell phone lot. Exit 101 at Millbrae Avenue. At the first intersection, there is a center on the left (In n Out, gas, market, Panera) with a parking lot, and on the right is the BART station, also with a parking lot. Park in either one and wait for the call (they can call when the plane is at the gate). Easy easy return -- go back toward 101, and either:

1) get on the freeway headed north, and take the first exit; or

2) go toward the freeway, cross over it, and make a left on the frontage road -- head north on the frontage road about a mile and you're at the airport.
