Seattle Recs for travel with baby

We (husband, myself and 6-month old) will be visiting Seattle in September to attend a wedding. We are arriving on a Wednesday afternoon and leaving early on Sunday morning. The wedding is on Saturday, in the afternoon/evening. I'd like to go to the zoo, and also the Space Needle. I'm looking for other baby-friendly activities for the rest of the trip. My husband would really like to spend a day in Vancouver, but I'm not so sure it is feasible for this short trip. If it helps, we will probably rent a car and will be staying near the Space Needle.

I think you'll have plenty to do in Seattle on the two full days you have here. Other ideas are Pike Place Market, Waterfront, ferry to Bainbridge Island.

For a day out of town, I would advise Mt. Rainier or Olympic National Park rather than Vancouver, which would be hectic.

For a day on the Olympic Peninsula, take the ferry to Bainbridge drive to Pt. Angeles for Hurricane Ridge and then to Lake Crescent (take easy hike to Marymere Falls). If you're up to it, stop at Victorian Port Townsend on way home.

Vancouver's too far imo for such a short trip. It's 3+ hours each direction on the freeway, so you'd want to stay over at least 1 night, I think.

When you're at the Zoo, right next door is Greenlake. A very nice park with a walking/jogging (if you have a stroller?) track around it. Also a playground.

The Seattle Center/Space Needle is also kid friendly. Lots of grass, places to get food, etc.

Since you have a car you could go out to Golden Gardens (beach park) and/or the Locks.

The Waterfront is downtown Seattle is fun. A long flat stretch of sidewalk with shops and restaurants. Get some fish & chips... feel the french fries to the seagulls, big fun!

We just stayed at the Inn at Harbor Steps and I really recommend the place. Parking is included in the room, the room was large and I saw other people with babies. The location can't be beat. It is right across the street from the Seattle Art Museum. Plus there is a little store next door for picking up anything you might forget. Also our room had a little kitchenette which might come in handy.

We walked to the nearby monorail and took it to the Space Needle. I would also visit the Experience Music Project-found the museum very interesting and entertaining. I would not bring a stroler into Pike Place Market-too crowded.

We took a show me seattle tour which we liked a lot. Even if you don't take the tour, look at their itinerary for ideas of places to visit.

A six month old is quite transportable. You might enjoy going for a stroll at Alki in West Seattle. There is a very long bike/walk/stroller path along the waterfront. There is a nice long beach and places you can stop in for a bit to eat. The views are beautiful.

The Ballard locks are fun. You can stroll around the grounds outside, watch the locks work and see the salmon ladders. You can even have a nice picnic on the lawn.

The Seattle Aquarium is fun. Your baby might enjoy watching the fish and seeing the seals. Plus it's great for parents, as well. It's down on the waterfront below Pike Place.

Since you'll be visiting in September, I think you could go to Pike Place if you go when it opens, particularly on Thursday morning. Otherwise, as noted, your stroller would be engulfed by crowds. The Aquarium is right below the market so you could park in one place and visit both.
