Celebrity Museums
Interested if any Fodors posters know of or been to celebrity museums or parks or tourist attractions. The cheesiest I've visited is the Clark Gable park in Cadiz, Ohio, his hometown as a lad. I think he was born in western Pennsylvania, however.

Bongo---
Don't know if an author fits your definition of celebrity, but I've been to the visitors center at the Thomas Wolfe home, here in Asheville, NC. It's the house where he grew up and where much of his novel Look Homeward, Angel took place. You can't tour the actual house anymore because it almost burned down in 1998, but the visitors center is pretty interesting. As for other celebrity tourist attractions, Dollywood is close enough that we constantly see commercials for it, but I don't think we'd ever go--- it definitely looks cheesy.

Went through the Anne Murray "shrine" in Nova Scotia last year. I had a hard time keeping a straight face! I also felt that she wasn't very representative of the local area, which is a coal mining area. She was the daughter of the local doctor who had all the privledges the other local kids did not...so why do they worship her? Well, I had to see, and as I said, I had a hard time keeping a straight face.
