Cedar Point Hotels - Breakers
I'd like to request any new information that anyone may have on the Cedar Point hotels...especially Breakers. My husband and I are planning a trip in late August and wanted to stay on site, but after reading several reviews (albiet a bit old) I'm a little concerned. Has anyone been there recently? And what part of the Breakers would you recommend (main, twin, Bon Air, East or Tower section) Thanks!

I personally prefer The Sandcastles, which is also a Cedar Point property, but newer and nicer, imho. The Breakers reminds me of El Tovar, mighty and massive....and THE PLACE to be...but back in the day. Its common for tourists to walk thru and hang out there, and it seems old and noisy. The Sandcastles is also Lakefront and just down from The Breakers.
But Cedar Point is the best in America, imho....even better than 'Wally-world'
You'll have a great time!

Ellen,
Thank you for your reply... unfortunately the week we are going the Sandcastle Suites are closed!
They were my first choice. Do you think it would be better to stay off property? or are the Breakers okay? They are offering a room for $75 a night...in the twin section, no elevator w/shower only...I'm just looking for a place to crash after the park, but don't want a dirty or uncomfortable room. I'm really looking forward to Cedar Point...I love coasters! We are also visiting Kennywood earlier that week.

Yes, for that rate, The Breakers will be great! There really isn't anything wrong with The Breakers....its still considered a lovely, 'grand' old hotel, its just older and can be quite busy/ noisy. But for that rate, you can't go wrong!
I'm actually surprised as the rates are usually much higher! How did you find it? And what exactly is the 'twin' section....i'm not that familiar with the property. And by the end of the day in the parks, almost ANY bed will do!

BTW, the newest coaster is TRULY, and i mean TOTALLY unbelievable. Theres been alot of press on it here in the midwest. Its truly pushing the proverbial 'envelope'....to the point that many die-hard coaster fanatics aren't sure they'll ride it!!!!

The line for the new Coaster was 4 hours on opening day weekend. They were giving potty breaks to people waiting in line. It really is amazing, I can see it across Sandusky Bay and it is taller than the Millenium. Will I ride it? No way.

I found the room On-line at the Cedar Point website, and then called to ask about it...it is in the older section of the hotel, with a Window A/C unit...smaller room than the new sections, but was told it was clean and comforable (okay, it was the accomodation folks, so I'll take that with a grain of salt). Only 2 people maximum are allowed in the room (w/one Queen bed). On the 2nd floor, but no elevator.
Anyway, figured we'd give it a try, and then if we don't like it, try to upgrade to a room in the newer section.
Since the main reason we're going is for the Park and Coasters, the room hopefully will be adequate - as you said, by the end of the day, almost any bed will do.
Will let you know how it turns out in August. Hopefully the lines will die down a bit by then...we are planning a Tues/Wed visit.

Hey dwenviro, that really sounds like a great deal! I can't recall their rates ever being that low.
And the 2nd floor is the ONLY floor i'd stay on, since visitors are constantly 'touring' the hotel. You'll love it...the park is almost right outside your door, and theres a Fridays right there, too.
All of this on the beautiful shores of Lake Erie! Be sure to enjoy your morning coffee (or nightcap
in one of their comfy adirondeck chairs on the wide, sandy CLEAN beach. Tues/Wed are great days to go, too. I'm sure you'll have the best time, and yes, DO give us a trip report when you return!
