Catalina Hotel
I am looking for a hotel in Avalon, and I only want to stay for 1 Saturday night. I am finding that most hotels require a 2-night stay on the weekends. The Catalina Island Inn and the Glenmore Plaza Hotel will both accept a 1-night stay. I am looking for advice on which of these hotels would be better. It is just my husband and I. We aren't looking for anything fancy, but cleanliness is a top priority. Thank you!

I haven't stayed at either, but we usually go there once a year and generally stay at the Metropole. I think you'd prefer the Catalina Island Inn. I think the Glenmore would be noisier and is an older property.

Froggy, on the Atwater -- I started making my yearly reservations for Catalina late this year, and found a room at the Atwater, which I booked. Have you been there since the remodel? What is it like?

Everyone - would love more info about your experiences with the hotels you mentioned - figure you must've taken your trips by now. I'm going in August 2004 with hubby & 2-yr-old and need something under $300 that is essentially a suite room with an ocean view. Impossible?
