Wow, this is interesting. At my previous home in RI and now in Houston, TX, all the kennels near me board cats. I therefore thought that most do. Guess not.

And a large Petsmart near me just recently converted part of the store space for boarding. Both cats and dogs.

Vittrad - I know what you mean. My cat poops when I have to take her in the car to go to the vet. Some cats just can't handle a change of scenery.

But my vet has several recommendations (some vet techs, others just animal lovers) who can come look in on pets while we're out of town. For a dog I'd be more particular (they require several visits per day), but for a cat, anyone they suggest should be good.

I wouldn't hesitate to go with someone you've found, at least once. Most people who are willing to take care of pets while you're on vacation are animal lovers, and that's generally good enough for me.
