I am considering moving to the Raleigh area and have been leaning toward Cary or Apex. Can anyone tell me about these areas? I'm looking for info on:
Commuting to the Research Park from these towns. How are the schools? I have a son in 7th grade and am interested in how the middle schools are. Any apartment complex that you would recommend or warn to stay away from? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! I'm visiting in 3 weeks and would love to have opinions from people that live there prior to my research trip. Thank you

While my information is a bit dated, I used to live on the Cary/Apex border. I also worked at RTP - the commute was pretty good - good interstates. I think the schools are fine - but I would recommend doing research on the towns specifically with the Chamber of Commerce, etc. There are alot of apts around there and you shouldn't have a problem. Take a visit down there - I liked the location, lots of shopping, restaurants, etc. I was there last year and still enjoyed it. Good luck.

Kat,
Having worked in Cary (for the Town of Cary) for 3 years, I'm not sure I would recommend living there. It is very yuppie. It is also growing like an oil slick. My figures may be a bit off, but in the last 10 years it has grown from a town of around 50,000 to over 100,00. They still call themselves the "Town of Cary".
Apex is currently experiencing the same growth problems.
Both towns are convienient to RTP, but expect HEAVY traffic.
When you do your reseach trip, check it all out including North Raleigh.
Curious
