Carneros Inn vs. Calistoga Ranch in Napa...Help Us Decide

I had posted another message about staying in Sonoma County for my niece's wedding in May 2008 and received a couple of suggestions.

Decided we might be happier staying in the Napa area instead.

I like the looks of both the Carneros Inn and the Calistoga Ranch but wonder if they may be a bit isolated.

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

Dukey - trying to make the same decision - did you ever get any further response to this inquiry?

Don't know those specific inns - but if their name implies their location, I think the Calistoga Inn would be more centrally located for exploring the Napa Valley. It's also closer to my favorite region of Sonoma Co (Alexander valley & Dry Creek Valley - Healdsburg).

What made you think you would be happier in Napa than Sonoma Co?

It might help to post this message as a "California" topic. On the US board the messages disappear very quickly.

I tried to find your other message about Sonoma in your message history but couldn't because of all the BS in there.

Anyway, if she's getting married in Sonoma, the Carneros Inn might be the best choice because it's nearby. Calistoga is a lot further away. However, the Calistoga Ranch is a much nicer property and it's probably twice the cost of Carneros. It's more of a destination resort rather than a place to just spend the night while in the area. This is where the rich and famous stay and is one of the top resorts in Northern California.

The Carneros Inn is very nice too with a couple of very good restaurants. But, it's located in the coolest, windiest part of the Valley and it's right on a main highway. I think you will also find the rooms much smaller here.

Also, in May, Calistoga is probably going to be warmer than Carneros if you are looking at spending any time around the pool.

More info regarding your needs would be helpful.
