The Carneros Inn is located at 4048 Sonoma Highlway in Napa, CA. I just viewed their website, the place looks elegant and very much like a first-class property.

www.thecarnerosinn.com is the webiste, rooms range from $300-$1,000. Too bad it's in Napa, we like to stay closer to the Yountville/St. Helena areas, but this place looks VERY nice. ***kim***

The Carneros Inn is all by itself out on the Sonoma Highway about 5 miles from downtown Napa. The place is probably very nice but has the look of a trailer park. If you stay there, post a follow-up and let us know what it's like.

The Carneros Inn wouldn't be all that far "out of the way." Nearby is the Domaine Carneros winery, producing excellent sparkling wine and associated with the Taittenger family in France. There's also the Carneros Creek winery: fine pinot noirs, among others. From there it's only about a 15-minute drive to the main part of the Napa Valley winery/restaurant scene.

By happy chance, today's San Francisco Chronicle has an article on the Carneros Inn. You can find it at

sfgate.com

Search for "Carneros Reinvented." It's in the Magazine section.

That was a good article. I would have missed it it wasn't pointed out. It explains a lot about the property. I hope to eat at the cafe' soon and check it out personally.
