Car rental Sale Apr/May.
Hotwire has a fantastic rate for apr/may. I rented a full size car from Apr 30 to May 8th and my total bill including taxes is $166.00. So about $13.95 a day. This is the lowest I've ever seen for a full sized vehicle. The lowest I had seen was on Costco for a midsize at $230.00.

I'm becoming a real fan of Priceline for rental cars. I was undecided if I even wanted a car next week for my four days in San Antonio. I had bid Priceline for $15 a day last week and was turned down. Today (three days before pickup) I bid $12 a day and got it -- with Hertz.

NeoPatrick,
I've been looking for ideas for Feb and San Antonio is one of them. I'd love to hear about your trip details. I'm going to look up on here, but if you have any tips, I'd appreciate. And enjoy your trip!!

I like priceline too, but I also shop costco and hotwire which give me a baseline. I have found over the course of nine years that good deals happen at all three sites and you have to be prepared to buy when you see them. I don't think I could get a better deal for a full sized car than $13.95 so I pulled the proverbial trigger.

Another good source is the Southwest Airline site if you happen to be visiting a city they serve. You don't have to be flying with them to get their car rental rates. It's easy to search, and their rates are often the best. Wherever you book, always continue to check the rates, even up to the first day of the rental, because you can always do a quick switch if another company is less at the last minute.

wbpiii, I don't understand your last post. Do you mean does Priceline do Hawaii? Yes, of course.
In fact in Sept./Oct. I had pre-reserved cars on three of four islands there with a discounter, but I canceled them all as about a week before arrival I bid Priceline for a convertible and got them all for about the same as a previously booked economy car.
