Car Hire in US

Hi, just wanted to know if anyone out there has used driveaway.com.au to rent a car in the US?
I am hiring a car in LA and dropping it off in San Francisco. Which is a better drop off location - Sheraton Mason Street or O'Farrell St (downtown).

Never used driveaway.com.au. That appears to be an Australian agency. I like to use www.orbitz.com for rental car comparison shopping, then reserve a car directly from the company website (hertz, avis, dollar, budget, thrifty, national, or alamo).

Keep in mind whatever insurance you have or would need to buy. Since I live in the US and have insurance coverage from my credit card as well as my own car insurance I always decline the expensive additional insurance they want to sell me. Being from outside the US your existing coverage may be different, ergo driveway.com.au may have what you need - I have no idea.

The drop off location in SF depends on where you are staying. O'Farrell St is a large parking garage where many rental car co's are located. The Sheraton Mason St. is near Fishermans Wharf & appears to be a Dollar rental car location. The other co's also have offices nearby, maybe on Beach St.

If you are staying downtown then drop off downtown. Ditto for Fisherman's wharf area.

You should probably post this on the Australia board, as few US posters will have experience with an Australian rental agency.

Or maybe also post on Lonely Planet Thorn Tree forum

Know noting about that company - but you should be sure of 3 things about the rates they quote:

1 - mileage is unlimited
2- all insurance and fees are included (this can sometimes double your rates)
3 - there is nor drop off fee for a different city (there shouldn't be - but you never know)

And get everything in writing.

It may be the same location: Mason @ O'Farrell.

Thanks everyone. I will definitely check it all out before booking anything. Driveaway is an Australian agency. I have used them in Europe a lot.
The drop off locations in San Francisco are definitely 2 different locations. Which one is closer to Nob Hill (the Fairmont)?

I visited San Francisco and I took my car hire downtown. I don't remember the exact address, but I saved the link to this company because they have lower prices compared to other companies. Here's the link:

That's ok, eduard . . . There are a few rude people here who think they're supposed to play board cop. Thank for the information.
