Cape San Blas area in May for anniversary trip
Still researching possible destinations for a long weekend in May to celebrate 20th anniversary. While piddling around on the internet I came across the Turtle Beach Inn which I think is in the Cape San Blas area. Any opinions on this place, or other recommendations in the area?

We always stay in an oceanfront house but have driven past The Turtle Beach Inn and it looks very nice! There is an Inn on the Cape but it's on the Bay side and I would choose the Oceanside which Turtle Beach is. Lets hope that Starrs sees this as she has stayed there more than once and loves it! You will be very close to the Indian Pass Raw Bar which we really like. A mom and pop converted gas station with fresh oysters and shrimp, they are not opened everyday so you would have to check their schedule once you arrive. If you want a relaxing trip, you will love this area however, you can kayak on the bay or ride horses on the beach, mostly we just walk the beach.
For an anniversary dinner I can recommend The Sunset Grill in Port St Joe, ask to be seated on the porch and go near sunset, beautiful!: http://www.sunsetcoastalgrill.com/ For a lunch, we also like Dockside in the marina in Port St Joe, we like to sit outside and view the boats. If you want any recommendatons on restaurants in Appalachicola, we like Papa Joes and Boss Oyster For something more upscale The Owl. Have a great time!!

Thanks for chiming in, starrs.
Yes, no crowds and no high rise hotels - sounds like our kind of place.
Will start checking out airfares. I think Panama City is the closest airport, yes?

Panama City is the closest airport. Leaving PC airport, take 98 East to 30 A just past Port St Joe. Make sure it's 30A, if you stay on 30 you'll end up in Appalachicola continue to 30 E if going to Cape San Blas or continue further on 30A to Indian Pass Rd turn right to Turtle Beach Inn.
Coming from the airport you will pass thru Mexico Beach and if you're hungry stop off at Toucan's Restaurant on your right. It sits right on the beach and having a bite to eat on the outside patio is lovely.
