Thanks for your good thoughts Pat. Looks as if the storm is just skirting the coast and will come in around Apalachicola.

Currently we are having heavy rain and sustained tropical storm force winds and that's probably as bad as we'll get. The up-side is that there has been a severe drought since spring so have needed more rain badly!

Am concerned about the boat, that we did things right yesterday. Left the sails on but lashed them down. Got the bimini down and eased the lines--and those are my biggest concern with the storm surge. Need them slack enough so the boat will rise with the surge, but not so slack it bangs into the slip's pilings!

Anyway, thanks for the good thoughts. Let us know how your trip was after you get back. Am sure you'll have a great time! Don't get lost! ;>

CMcDaniel, I'm glad it looks like you won't be getting a direct hit. I'm watching the weather channel and I could swear I saw your boat out there and it was doing just fine.! Don't worry things will go well. Thank you again for everything and weather the storm safely.

We waded out to the boat yesterday afternoon and it appears fine...sails intact and stern not gouged by the pilings. With storm surge the deck was 5-6 feet *above* our heads so there was no getting on! gt; I'll go back down this afternoon later...the area is completely flooded now.

We had minimal damage...4 trees down at the hotel, one of which brushed one of our employees in the process. She was sent to hospital just to be checked but was insisting she was fine and wanted to continue working! Hang onto that employee!!! We had waves breaking 2 feet from our restaurant and against the pool deck. The dock was under 2-3 feet of water but seems intact. It could have been much much worse!!

It hit land about 70 miles up the coast. Lucky, lucky!
