If this turns out to be a duplicate, it's b/c i cannot find my original posting....
My daughter and I are going to Denver next month and want to take a scenic train ride into the mountains. Do you know of the names of the companies that offer such??

I don't know if this is what you are looking for and availability looks limited but look at www.skitrain.com for a summer day trip. The other option could be taking Amtrak to Glenwood Springs for an overnight trip.

sallyjane3,

wtm003 is right: The Amtrak trip to Glenwood Springs is pretty wonderful. If memory serves, it takes about four hours and then you have the town to explore. If you decide to do this trip, I highly recommend staying the night in Glenwood and enjoying the hot springs, vapor caves, cave tours, etc. Glenwood is very easy to get around on foot.

Plus the train ride is beautiful--especially as you travel through Glenwood Canyon.

If you're looker for something shorter & closer, there's also the Georgetown Loop train about an hour from Denver. This is a 1929 steam train that embarks on an 70 minute trip several times a day. Very scenic and historic. Check it out at: http://www.georgetownlooprr.com/

Have fun!
