can't decide where to go

I have been given a free plan ticket from work that I have to use in the next two weeks but can only be in the mainland (those 48) lol, of the united states. I can't figure where to go since I don't have alot to spend I was thinking for the view or the landmarks. Any ideas well thinking about a college student's budget? I love the coast but I am from california so I want to go some where other than cali. Thanks for the help.

What is a college students budget? I guess you're looking for a place where you won't need to rent a car to get around, but where you can, what, stay in a hostel?
And, are you planning to leave right away and come back within 2 weeks time? Does the whole trip have to be completed within the next 2 weeks or do you just have to get ticketed by then?

How about Washington DC. Lots of free stuff to see & don't need a car to get around. Check to see if there is a hostel, or if not a cheap motel outside the city close to a metro line.

I was going to suggest DC too, for the same reasons.

How about someplace where you have some aunts, uncles, or cousins who would be thrilled to see you, put you up in their home, feed you, and drive you around?

I mean that very seriously - I'd be happy to get a visit from a faraway relative (student) and would be delighted to host them. If you are friendly enough with your aunts and uncles, etc., I'd ask if they had time for a visit - but be careful to precede your request with "I know this is short notice and I understand if you are already booked up" - so you leave them a way out if they are not up for a visit.
