Can anyone help with finding cheap accomodation in Santa Monica?

Hi everybody!

Me and my friends are going to Santa Monica for the summer. We need to find some cheap housing for the first 1-2 weeks - around $60-80 for a double room. I would be grateful if anyone could give me information about that.
I am trying to get any info about Seaview Motel but no success for the moment.

Best regards
Marina

Hi, We stayed at a hotel with shared bathrooms for about $65 a nite 2 years ago in Santa Monica. I don't remember the name of it. We found it because I called the Youth Hostel in Santa Monica and they were full for the times we wanted. So I asked if they knew of anything else that was reasonable. They recommended this hotel which was just down the street and said to ask for a room with shared bathrooms. I suggest you call the youth hostel and ask them if they are full. If not, they also have private rooms at a reasonable price. Lots of Europeans and Australians were staying in the hotel when we were there. It was very conveniently located and the rooms were adequate for our needs. Good luck.

Dear Anne,
Thank you very much for your advice. We`ll check the hotel you recommended. Best regards,

If you can't find anything in Santa Monica, try the Claremont Hotel in Westwood. Westwood is not far from Santa Monica and there is citybus service every 25 minutes. The Claremont is bare-bones budget, with a TV only in the lobby and old, sparsely decorated rooms. But if you are just looking for a safe room in a VERY safe area, the Claremont is very inexpensive.

Try Priceline. You may be able to get someplace decent in your price range.
