My husband and I are planning a trip to Utah in June and will be pulling a tent trailer. Would love some ideas re campgrounds inside or outside state and national parks. We do like to have electricity so that may limit where we can stay. Would also like to get to the Grand Canyon, so info re campgrounds in that area would also be appreciated.

I live in Utah and camp frequenty. The only campgrounds with elec. will be in some of the Natl Parks, and private campgrounds in nearby towns.

Check out the national parks website and you can see the campgrounds needed. However, you need to make reservations NOW. If you can't make reservations, your chances of getting a hook up campgroud are slim. Plus, you should be aware that you will be in a campground with all the giant RVs and their generators......

Utah has lots of very nice (but more primitive) national forest campgrounds, state parks, and BLM land. Some of the state parks have showers and flush toilets (big luxury).

PS - camping in Utah on the weekends is extremely popular. Arrive at a campground early in the morning if you want a spot. Weekdays not much of a problem except at the most popular places.

You will have a lot more choice if you do! Also, some of the campgrounds at the highest elevations could still have snow and might be closed. There are some that don't usually open until 4th of July, but those are up around 9 - 10,000 ft.

We much prefer Watchtower campground at Grand Canyon. Away from all the commotion. Great stargazing, no electricity, decent flush toilets. Most of the giant motor homes are mainly in the other campgrounds. Give it a try. we also like Natural bridges National Monument, west of Blanding Utah. The state parks are nice too.
