Yes, I've been to Doc Wilkinson's. It's the budget option, I guess, but I really enjoyed it. I did the 'works', first a mud bath, then steam, then blanket wrap, then massage. It was really great. The facilities are older, but the staff was really nice and I felt like a very relaxed wet noodle when it was over. It was nice to be staying there so I only had to crawl back to my hotel bed.

Susan can you elaborate on your mud bath experience? I haven't been able to bring myself to get into the mud that's been used by others. What was your feeling about this and is it a must do? I'm trying not to be squemish but maybe my phobias are insurmountable? With being so close to Napa and Sonoma the issue comes up frequently.

Hi Suzie!
The mud bath is not for everyone. We were a group of 11 women and only half of us braved the mud, and some of those wished they hadn't. You are required to shower before entering, so I equated it in my mind with a jacuzzi or pool at a hotel. The mud is squishy and smells like sulfur. They slather a nice lemony masque on your face and cucumber slices on your eyes, and that helps with the sulfur smell. You are suspended, not touching the bottom or sides of the tub, kind of a strange and relaxing sensation. It is weird. However, my skin felt so good for at least a week afterward. I'd do it again, but I understand not everyone is into it.
