California Update Re; Fires

Hello all. I thought I would post this latest article from the SF Chronicle regarding our fires. If any of you Fodorites are travelling or are going to be travelling in N CA be aware there are now more fires between Sacramento and Reno and I-80 is being blanketed with heavy smoke per the article.

I hope all our Sacramento and Foothill to Reno Fodorites are all right. Even here s/w of Sacramento the air is good. California now has 1400 fires. Take good care.

Out here in Stanislaus county the smoke has cleared. We actually saw a blue sky today. However, the fire in Tuolumne county, above Groveland, has crossed into Yosemite National Park boundaries. Mather Rd. to Camp Mather has been closed. We are headed to Reno for the 4th of July, so I hope it won't be too bad. I'm finally breathing freely again!

Mather Road closed. Yikes. Hope the city camps do okay. Thinking of my favorite hike right now.

Anyone have a great web site for traking these fires. (The Big Sur fires are covered in another string).

I think the fire near Groveland, CA is called the North Mountain Fire. I searched around and this looks like the web page for tracking it.

Says it is 35% contained, and these days, that is really good news.

(if I'm posting this website in the wrong way, please feel free to give me hints!)

I meant to say in my OP the air is NOT good where I live.

But this morning when I woke up at 6:00am I was shocked to see a beautiful blue sky and fresh air. What a joy! I haven't read anything today about the fires in N/E CA to Reno.
