Colin,
I only just discovered this report, but I am soooo glad that I have.
I have only just got through the first couple of days, but have taken my office phone off the hook and closed the door. Work will have to wait until I've finished.
You have brought back so many great memmories of our trip in June/July 2010. If you get bored at some stage, search for my trip report. I would love to share it with you. It was somewhat different, as we travel with our kids (11 and 8 at the time), but our impressions of LA are similar in a way.
Being Australian, I loved your reference to Angus and Julia Stone. I was actually listening to "Down the Way" last night.
I really wish that I had known about the House of Blues, Gospel Brunch. We stayed at the Best Western, right next door and were there on a Sunday.
Anyway.....Back to the report.

Cheers shanek. I'm glad you're enjoying the trip.
I see by your trip reports that you're a big fan of Thailand. I absolutely adored my two visits there. I usually don't revisit places, always striving for a new horizons but I now feel the urge to return to the Land of Smiles!

Next big trip will have to be the end of 2013. Went to Rwanda last year which was expensive (but worth every penny) so it'll take a while before we can afford another long haul.
How cheap is Thailand to get to from Australia ?
