So this june gloom thing - is it going to ruin my trip so it's not that big of a deal? I can't believe how many people use this site, it's so helpful. Thanks to everyone, keep the suggestions coming.

I think that if you were expecting sunshine from sun up to sun down every day of your trip, you would be disappointed by the fog. But you know it is probably going to be there, so no worries. This type of fog is high level stuff, looks just like the day is overcast rather than the thick, ground level fog a lot of people think of. It is really unlikely that it will be foggy the entire time - most likely just in the mornings. I say go for it. Fog on the California coast is just part of the experience.
