Cafe Lolo, Santa Rosa

Anyone eaten here? Suggestions for other restaurants near Santa Rosa. I need a birthday gift for my brother who lives in the area.

I've heard good things about Syrah. Josef's at the Hotel La Rose was a big hit with my son! John Ash at the Vintner's Inn is another one to consider. ***kim***

Your brother would probably enjoy Zazu's.

http://www.zazurestaurant.com/

We had a great meal there with some Fodorites from the local area.

I had dinner there several years ago and it was excellent. It is a small restaurant and the tables are fairly close together. Syrah is also excellent and not as quiet.

It will be quite difficult to dine at Cafe Lolo as it no longer exists.
In it's place is Satur Wine Bar & Bistro.
It's a pretty good "small plates"
restaurant now.

Run from Josef's,Syrah is not as good as it used to be, IMHO. John Ash & Co
located in the Vintners Inn is a good bet for brunch. (How anyone can recommend a restaurant they have never eaten in is beyond me...sigh~)

Now Zazu is the absolute shining star
here. (Budman knows how much I enjoy it !)We have been dining there since it
opened and it is FABULOUS ! Reserve
early as it is quite popular.

Thank you all for your suggestions. If I get a gift certificate for Zazu (I live in NY & won't be able to join in the party),what amount would you suggest for dinner for 2?

With an inexpensive bottle of wine
(inexpensive = around $30), I'd say
not less than $150.
(Inexpensive is not really a relative term for Zazu's wine list which is extensive, yet tends toward the pricey.)
You are a very nice sister,BTW !
