Cabins on McKenzie River, Oregon?

We are traveling to Oregon in July 2005 and would like recommendations for quiet places to stay (preferably cabins) on the McKenzie river, and also recommendations for safety-conscious rafting companies.

Hi Emily,

Unfortunately I'm not completely familiar with any cabins/homes available for rent on the McKenzie. We've only ever stayed at our friend's vacation home on the McKenzie, but he doesn't rent it out.

However, one thing you may want to try is going to http://www.vrbo.com - vacation rentals by owners - you may be able to find something there.

Sorry, also don't have recommendations for good rafting companies.

Hope you have a great time - the McKenzie is beautiful and peaceful!

Happy planning,
Tracey

Dear Tracey, I've been away (to Costa Rica) and just read your message. Thanks for the advice! We have reserved a cabin at a place called Cedarwood but I'll file away your reference for houses to rent in case this cabin doesn't work out for some reason. I lived in Oregon 30 years ago and haven't been back but will be really glad to see it again.

I didn't see your original post, Emily, or would have recommended Cedarwood. We stayed in cabins there years ago when our annual family golf tourney was held at nearby Tokatee. They are quite rustic, but provided they've been maintained, I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay there.

Holiday Farms 1-800-823-3715 have very cute cabins on the river - also Log Cabin Inn - which is restaurant and resort.
Or you might be interested in Belknap Springs- I really dont know what their cabins are like but have stayed in the lodge area - its a very beautiful spot-
beautiful gardens and a pool heated by the hot springs. I think it was peace and quiet I was looking for I might choose the Holiday Farms - and you can still drive up to Belknap and soak in the hot springs and walk around the grounds
