Hi, Will be traveling up near Blue Ridge the last week of August. Usually visit later in the year (when it is much cooler) so wondered if anyone has recommendation of vacation area or where I could rent cabin on lake in that area.

Have you tried VRBO.com? They have a number of listings for Lake Lanier and Hartwell Lake.

Lake Burton and Lake Rabun are closeby near Clayton and they are both beautiful! Do a search for Clayton GA mountain rentals.

If you're not wanting to drive far from Blue Ridge, there's always Lake Blue Ridge itself. Don't know if there are rentals there, but I used to rent from www.blackbearcabinrentals.com out of Blue Ridge. They would know. And I'm pretty sure they have rentals on creeks and smaller bodies of water if that's okay with you. I would always just rent a place in the woods, and they were fine.

Go to vrbo.com. There are lake rentals on all the North GA lakes. The last week in August may work really well for you because GA schools will already be back in session - so local renters won't be there.

Hwy 76 pretty much goes across N GA and any of the mtn lakes off 76 would be good options. I don't like Lake Lanier water anymore and Hartwell is furthest away - on the GA/ SC border.
