Byrce Canyon Lodging & Cottonwood Rd
Going to Byrce Canyon, looking for lodging other than Ruby's and no horse ranch, wife allergic.
Also has anyone driven from Lake Powell to Byre via Cottonwood Rd? On the map it looks like it is shorter than state road but not sure if it is paved or not.
Thanks for your input

Try the above website. There are several places near Bryce.
Best Western Pines near the entrance is ok. I didn't see any horse evidence when I stayed there.
As for the Cottonwood Road, if that is the one that goes north to Bryce via Kodachrome Basis park from the US highway that goes west from Page, it is gravel - dirt.

When we drove from Bryce to Lake Powell last summer we considered taking Cottonwood Road too. I inquired about it from the information desk at Ruby's, and the woman there told me that it is a dirt road, and she did not recommend using it during the rainy season (which we were in at the time) as it was likely to be very muddy and we might get stuck. I guess it depends on the time of year you go and what kind of vehicle you're driving whether it's a good idea to try it.

I am total agreement on the cabins at Bryce. We were there in early June and thought them to be nice. The only hitch is that you cannot park at your cabin door in most cases.
Check the schedule of ranger talks while you are there. If the young ranger is giving his fire fighting lecture, I recommend that you hear him. He is quite dramatic and informative.
And if you take only one walk down into the canyon, I recommend the Tower Bridge walk. Take water!! It can be dry as dust on those trails.
