BWI Security

I was out at BWI last night to pick up DW and security was pretty tight. There was a car check before reaching the terminal, re-routed approaches and many very obvious and active uniformed security personnel outside the terminal on foot and on bikes. Although you can stop to load-unload, a no waiting policy was strictly enforced.

Thanks for the update. Had posted on the Airlines thread asking for info about BWI. Did your DW depart from BWI, as well? If so, how were the security lines? I took WN 2 weeks ago in the early morning & they were awful.

When she departed from BWI it was before the UK incidents and securtity was as usual. The line at Southwest was quick as was the TSA check, but that was then.

Thanks for the head's up. We fly out of BWI in a couple weeks, and we'll get there plenty early (even earlier than usual). I miss the good old days of air travel. What a headache it is now.

Hopefully things will be back to "normal" by then. Have a good trip.

Hi all:

Security was actually quite better than the prior time I flew, but that could also be because I went on a Thursday morning this time, as opposed to a Friday morning. Still, I'd recommend getting there a little earlier than at most other airports, because BWI is so horribly run. Took WN last night, & had to wait forever to get my bags (as per usual @ BWI). WN was its usual, chaotic, horrible self.

I fly in and out of BWI about 15times a year and DH about 20. I guess I've been lucky as I have about 1 slow experience a year, usually with baggage, but overall, it's not any worse than most airports. I will say that it's awful when changes come along, but I think that's true anywhere. Glad I'm not heading out for a while.
